Foxconn's Massive India Ambitions to Produce Apple iPads at the Tamil Nadu Facility 'Soon'

By Consultants Review Team Friday, 26 July 2024

Foxconn may begin constructing Apple's iconic tablet, iPad, in India as part of a massive expansion of its present activities, according to reports. Following the fast expansion of Apple's supply chain in India, the firm may begin building iPads at its factory in Tamil Nadu's Sriperumbudur, according to reports. Currently, Foxconn and other global contract manufacturers solely construct Apple handsets in India.

According to a source, "Foxconn is seriously looking to start assembling Apple iPads out of its Tamil Nadu facility.

According to an additional source who spoke with the site, "there have already been several rounds of discussions with the government on this." They are here in full force and have had a really positive experience thus far. In the upcoming years, they plan to quadruple their inventory, which will include iPhones, iPads, and a few more devices.

The insider informed the publication that "Mac range of laptops assembly may take some time as the production volume is very small."

Another industry insider stated, "It (the iPad) is like a bigger iPhone in essence." It may thus be manufactured in India without too much difficulty because Apple's contract manufacturers are already qualified to do such tasks.
